Think Pharmacy First
Most pharmacies can provide prescription medication for certain conditions without the need to see a GP or make an appointment. This service, known as Pharmacy First.
Pharmacy First means you can go straight to the pharmacist for treatment of some minor health issues, without needing a GP prescription first. If you are exempt from prescription charges, the medication will be free. If you pay for your prescription, you will pay the regular cost of the medicine. To use this service, you must be a registered patient at one of the surgeries on the Isle of Wight. Please note most pharmacies have a private consultation room.

Your appointment
When you contact us, we’ll ask what you need help with. This helps us choose the right healthcare professional for you.
We hold surgeries every day except Sundays and bank holidays.
If you have an urgent medical need, we will do our best to see you on the same day, though you may not see your preferred doctor.
Please only request a same-day GP appointment if it is urgent. A phone call from a GP might be enough.

Home visits
If you are housebound and need an appointment, we may carry out a home visit. We will phone you first to understand what you need.
To request a home visit, it’s helpful if you phone the practice as soon after 8.15am as possible.
Your GP will call you first and only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule home visits.
You can also be visited at home by a Community Nurse if you are referred by your GP.
